Johnson O'Malley Program


The Johnson O'Malley Act was created in 1934 to provide supplemental assistance to educate Indian students entering public schools. In 1975 the JOM progam became part of the Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act. Under this act, Indian tribes contract the administration of JOM funds for elegible Indian Students residing within their jurisdiciton. The Glenpool Indian Education Progam provides the operational support for JOM in contracts with the Muscogee Creek Nation. Students must be a member of a Federally Recognized Tribe to be eligible.

The Indian Education Program came into existence in 1972 now known as the Title VII Progam. This was one of the first programs to address the educational concerns of urban American Indians. The Glenpool Indian Education Title VII Program provides a variety of services to students of American Indian descent enrolled in grades PK-12th.

Perfect Attendance:

Indian Education Students in grades PK-12 who have perfect attendance for the 2015-2016 school year will have their name entered in a drawing for a mini iPad. There will be a drawing for each site (Elementary, Middle, and High School). Names will be drawn at the end of the school year in May.

A, A/B Honor Roll:

Indian Education Students will also have an opportunity to have their name entered into a second drawing for a mini iPad. Students who have made the A, A/B Honor Roll each semester will have their name entered into the drawing. Again we will have a mini iPad per site.
