Glenpool Public Schools has conducted several successful BYOD pilot programs since last term. These pilot programs have allowed students to bring their own digital devices into the class to support learning. Students were able to sign into Glenpool's secure Wi-Fi to access educational content under the supervision of their instructors. Our District is ready to expand this pilot to include a broader number of students beginning in January.
With parental consent, the high school will allow all students to bring and use their devices at school during the month of January. Principals will meet with students and explain the criteria for usage of devices during the school day at the roll out of this pilot project. Parents and student both will sign an agreement to participate in the pilot program.
With parental consent, a select group of middle school teachers will allow students enrolled in those sections to bring their devices during the month of January to support learning within that classroom setting only. The teachers involved in the pilot program will explain the criteria for usage of devices within each class period. Parents and students both will sign an agreement to participate in the pilot program.
This is a step forward for Glenpool District to address the needs of 21st Century Learners and our mission to prepare students for college and career readiness. Our goal is to establish good practices and procedure so that we may be able to move forward with Wi-Fi access for students on a permanent basis. Chrome Books and Apple iPads are currently used in many classrooms throughout the district. The following devices will be allowed during these pilot programs:
