Distance Learning is the method of instruction for students who are not able to attend school for a temporary period of time in person for illness, injury, or other approved circumstances. Distance learning means a student will continue with the regular classroom instruction remotely (Google Meet or recorded instructions) and will continue to have the same work completion and grading expectations. Teachers will communicate with the student using the Campus student portal and other methods as needed. Students are expected to join any live sessions the teacher has scheduled or use the pre-recorded lessons if assigned. Students are expected to complete all classroom assignments.
If a student is having difficulty participating in distance learning, it is important that the student or parent communicates with the teacher. The teacher will be able to provide additional support to ensure students continue to learn and make academic progress during a distance learning period of time.
If a student is unable to participate on a given day, the parent needs to communicate with the teacher or attendance office that the student will be absent just as they would if the student were missing a traditional class. Communication between home and school is very important to the student's academic success during distance learning.
