Welcome
Pre-K is an exciting time! We are looking forward to establishing the best possible learning environment for your child. We offer our students a wide variety of educational and recreational experiences that include many hands-on experiences. We promote the health and wellness of each student in a safe and secure learning environment while fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development. We hope to instill a lifelong love of learning in each child while helping prepare them for Kindergarten.

Attendance
On-time arrival and daily attendance are highly encouraged. This is your child's first introduction to school. Regular attendance and punctuality will help your child be successful. Classes begin at 7:50 a.m. and conclude at 2:40 p.m. Students with excessive tardiness, early exits, and/or absences may be dropped from the program.

Arrival and Dismissal
Students may be delivered to the Main Entrance starting at 7:30 a.m. The doors will be locked at 7:55 a.m. Upon arrival, please park in the parking lot and walk your child to the main entrance. For dismissal, please park and pick your child up from the covered walkway along the North side of the building next to the main entrance. If there are changes in your child's transportation home, you must call the attendance office by 2:00 p.m. Please be on time for arrival and dismissal.

Staying Healthy
Please do not bring a sick child to school. Children too sick to participate in the full program, including outside play, need to be kept at home. Children must be fever-free and symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Toilet Training
Each child must be completely toilet trained by the first day of school. No exceptions. The child must be able to attend to his/her bathroom needs. Pull-ups are considered diapers and are not allowed. Children with pants that are wet/soiled on a regular basis will be considered not fully toilet trained. If a student soils their clothing due to a bowel movement and is unsuccessful in cleaning themselves, a parent will be contacted to return to school to clean their child. We completely understand that accidents happen but if a child is habitually having potty problems the situation will be reviewed with the teacher and administrator.
*Please have a clean change of clothes in the student's backpack at all times.

Instructional Goals

  • To stimulate children's learning in all areas by providing a climate that is active and engaging

  • To develop phonemic awareness

  • To develop concepts of numbers and numerations through manipulatives

  • To encourage positive interactions with others

  • To develop children's self-esteem and positive feelings toward learning

  • To help parents in their roles as the first teacher by providing information and ideas

Behavior
Pre-kindergarten is often the first school experience for children. We understand that as students are adjusting to school they may act out behaviorally. We will work with your child to learn appropriate school behaviors. Teachers will inform you regularly about your child's behavioral progress. However, we reserve the right to dismiss students who do not progress to the behavioral expectations required in a school environment.
