Help us keep traffic moving smoothly and get our students to class on time! Morning congestion is causing student tardiness and delaying district-wide bus routes (INT, MS, and HS).
Following our drop-off steps allows us to unload 20+ cars at once and clear Warrior Road efficiently:
➡️ Pull all the way forward along the sidewalk (red line shown in the picture).
➡️ Unload when the line stops: When the line of traffic stops, that is the time to unload. Please don't just stop in front of the main entrance to unload, as this causes major traffic flow issues.
➡️ Passenger side exit: Have students exit on the passenger side as soon as the line stops—they will enter the building at the nearest entrance (there are 3) and walk through the building to class.
➡️ Park if extra time is needed: If your child needs help unbuckling or getting ready, please park in the lot and use the crosswalk.
➡️ 3rd/4th Graders: Non-breakfast students may use the APB loop gate.
🚫 Bus Loop: Strictly no car drop-offs allowed in the bus loop.
⏰ Doors open: 7:35 AM | School starts: 8:00 AM

Please see the attached dismissal map showing the location for each grade level car rider pick up line and walk up line. 1st grade car rider line is the main loop in front of the building. 2nd grader car rider line is the APB loop just south of the building between the Upper Elementary and the Intermediate. 3rd & 4th grade car rider line is back behind the building, the loop between the Elem/INT and the softball fields. The road to this loop is the road between the INT and the football field. Remember you MUST have your pick up tag from this school year (not previous years) in order to pick up your child. If you do not have your tag you will be instructed to go to the Main Entrance and show your ID before picking up your child. Thank you for following these procedures to help us ensure the safety of our students.

We did not mean to cause such a stir yesterday by posting new start and end times. Here are some answers to your questions:
1. The Oklahoma law that requires 40 minutes of recess and is interpreted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) as non-instructional time, thereby extending school days, is 70 O.S. 2021, Section 11-103.9, also known as Senate Bill 1481. This law directly affects Kindergarten through 5th grade.
2. The OSDE has informed us that this year, 20 non-instructional minutes for recess will need to be added to the total school day, and possibly 40 minutes next school year (27-28). Our KG-5th grade administrators found places to reduce time in the schedules, but they still had to extend the overall day by 10 minutes—5 minutes at the start and 5 minutes at the end of the day. It is not a drastic change, but it is mandated by law.
3. Yes, it may affect bus schedules. The transportation department is working hard on possible changes and will post those schedules very soon.
4. It will not affect Extended Day end times.
5. Because Pre-K and 6th grade are in the same buildings as K and 5th, their schedules are lengthened as well, but again, just 10 minutes.
6. Middle School and High School will still have the same start and end times they have had for the last several years.
7. The Back-to-School information page will be published later today (Tuesday the 21st) and frequently updated on our website - www.glenpoolps.org. It will provide class times, where to go when you get to school, open house dates and times, supply lists, etc.
Again, apologies for stirring the pot, but we hope this provides some clarity on this law's impact not only on our district, but every district across the state.
