Warrior Chant May 2025

Parents
Your children are anxiously anticipating the end of school, the start of summer, and all the fun that is associated with that time of year. Unfortunately, with that break in school comes the “summer slide." The summer slide is learning loss that students can experience when out of school. The research indicates that kids can lose significant knowledge in reading and math over summer break. There are some ways that you can help your child mitigate some of that loss.
Encourage your children to read for pleasure. Having access to a wide variety of books that they enjoy reading will help maintain those skills. Consistent reading is the best way to overcome the “summer slide."
Make time for smart play. Board games and puzzles that require students to think and solve problems allow them to flex their brain power.
Encourage activities that allow students to use their imagination.
A quick Google search will produce many activities that families can do to help their children be ready for the next school year.
Also, be sure to take advantage of our summer feeding program. This program is free to any K-12 student under 18 or anyone under 21 if disabled. The community feeding program will be at the Lower Elementary. Daily menus will be posted on the my school menu app.
Breakfast 8:30a.m. - 10:00a.m.
Lunch 12:30p.m. – 2:00p.m.

Documents can be uploaded to the form or brought to the enrollment center by appointment. Pre-enrolling now helps Glenpool plan and prepare for next year.

Summer Sports Camps
There are a variety of summer sports camps available for students of all ages.
A physical dated after May 1, 2025 must be on file at the school for students to participate.
This page will be updated as information is available.

Proficiency Testing
Proficiency tests are given twice per year on a voluntary basis and provide students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of core curriculum areas prior to taking the tested grade level or subject area. Tests are available in the core subject areas in grades 1-12. The next testing dates will be May 27-29 for all students.
Persons interested in pursuing the proficiency testing may email Matt Fore for further instruction by May 9. The application period for proficiency testing will be May 5-9.

Immunizations
There are several state required immunization boosters necessary for enrollment in Kindergarten. Please check with your child’s healthcare provider to ensure your child’s immunizations are current. The state also requires a Tdap booster for all 7th grade students.
Immunizations can be uploaded when filling out the family update or bring them to the Education Service Center.

Medication Pickup
Please pick up any medication your child has at school by 12:30 PM, May 23, 2025. Medications will not be sent home with students. All uncollected medications will be properly disposed of after 12:30 PM on May 23.
Please review the Policies and Procedures on the district website if your child will need medication at school for the upcoming school year, 2025-2026. Medications will not be accepted without proper authorization forms. A new authorization form must be completed at the beginning of each school year for each medication. For questions, contact your site nurse.

Refund Request
Please check your student(s) meal account to make sure they have a positive balance. If your student has a negative meal account it is very important that all meal accounts are brought current before the last week of school.
Positive balances left on a student's account at the end of the school year will carry over to the next school year unless a parent/guardian requests a refund of that balance. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your refund. Click here for more information.
